Join Charleston Black Lives Matter for a public discussion to discuss concerns and organize.
College of Charleston is planning to build a dormitory on top of an Enslaved African burial site and the old YWCA building at 106 Coming Street. From 1974 to 1807, the space was used as the Charleston Public Cemetery, which buried thousands of enslaved Africans and poor people. The building later served as a hub for Black folk throughout the civil rights era and Black Power movement. While the collective effort to appeal to the Board of Architecture Review was rejected, we still have people power to stop this!
