Candidate Forum Announced for SC State Senate District 42 Democratic Primary

The Charleston County Democratic Party will host a Candidate Forum with the candidates running in the Democratic Primary in the Special Election for South Carolina State Senate District 42.  The Forum will be held on Thursday August 17 at 6:30pm at Royal Missionary Baptist Church (4761 Luella Ave, North Charleston, SC 29405) and will be moderated by Carolyn Murray of NBC local affiliate WCBD Channel 2.

State Senate District 42 has been represented by Senator Marlon Kimpson since 2013.  This special election was triggered by his resignation earlier this summer to join President Joe Biden’s administration.  There will be a Democratic Primary on September 5th, a primary runoff (if necessary) on September 19th, and a General Election for the seat on November 7th.

Three Democratic Candidates have filed to be on the Democratic Primary ballot; State Representative Wendell Gilliard, State Representative JA Moore, and State Representative Deon Tedder.  All three candidates have been invited to participate in the candidate forum.
